Anchorage, Alaska is one of the most popular destinations in the US, and for good reason. Anchorage

Anchorage is the largest city in Alaska and serves as the state’s economic hub. With a population of over 300,000 people, Anchorage is home to many attractions that make it worth visiting. The city was named after the anchorage area of Cook Inlet.

Denali National Park

Denali National Park is home to the tallest peak in North America and has some of the most dramatic scenery you can imagine. A park is a great place for wildlife watching, but it’s also an amazing hiking destination.

Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes

The Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes is named for the smoke that billows from the valley floor. The hot lava that created this scenic landmark is a product of a geothermal vent, which erupts into an active volcano in Katmai National Park. This park was created in 1980 to preserve and protect its unique features, including the Valley of Ten Thousand clouds of smoke. The area is home to moose and other wildlife, as well as many varieties of plants and trees

Kenai Fjords National Park

The Kenai Fjords National Park is located in southern Alaska and is one of the most scenic places in the United States. This national park offers visitors a chance to see glaciers, whales, and wildlife such as grizzly bears.

The park has an area of 2 million acres, which makes it much larger than Yellowstone National Park. Visitors will be able to see many different types of animals such as sea lions or moose. If you want to see glaciers up close then this is the right place for you! 

There are several glaciers here including Exit Glacier and Harding Icefield which covers 120 square miles! You can see this massive ice field by taking a boat tour or hiking on its trails which cover over 300 miles throughout all four seasons (fall/winter). 

If visiting during the summer season then make sure that there isn’t any rain before going because otherwise, it might ruin your trip since there aren’t any covered areas inside except at the visitor center where most visitors tend not to go anyways unless if need something like bathrooms or food 😁

Alaska Native Heritage Center

The Alaska Native Heritage Center is a non-profit organization that provides education about Alaska’s Native people, their culture, and their heritage. The center has several attractions including a museum, art gallery, and gift shop where you can purchase authentic Native crafts as souvenirs. It also offers cultural programs for visitors of all ages.

The Alaska Native Heritage Center is the largest and most comprehensive museum in the state with over 10,000 items on display from its extensive collection of North American Indian art and artifacts from more than 200 different tribes across Alaska. If you visit this museum during your trip to Anchorage you will learn about how these tribes interact with their environment as well as how they lived off the land long before Europeans arrived in America.

The center also offers tours through exhibits explaining why some tribes were able to survive while others did not over thousands of years; it explores what it was like before Europeans came here too!

Tony Knowles Coastal Trail

The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail is a 10-mile trail that follows the shoreline of Turnagain Arm. The trail is accessible from downtown Anchorage and travels south along Turnagain Arm, providing incredible views of Knik Arm and Cook Inlet. The coastal trail offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy nature while walking, jogging, or biking with friends or family.

The Alaska Zoo

The Alaska Zoo is one of the largest zoos in Alaska and is home to more than 1,000 animals representing over 120 species. It’s also free to enter!

The zoo has an extensive collection of animals including tigers, lions, giraffes, reindeer, zebras, and much more. If you’re looking for something smaller or less exotic there are several small animal exhibits such as turtles and frogs where you can get up close with your favorite critters.

If you want to take a break from walking around the zoo then head over to their petting farm area where kids can interact with sheep or chickens while parents get a chance to relax on one of the picnic tables nearby.

Alyeska Ski Resort

Alyeska Ski Resort is a great place to learn to ski or snowboard. It has one of the longest ski seasons in the world, and there are many different trails for all skill levels and abilities. The terrain park is especially popular with young skiers who love challenging themselves and taking on new experiences.

Chugach State Park

This 542-square-mile state park is made up of mountains, lakes, glaciers, forests, and wildlife. The area features breathtaking views in every direction. 12 alpine mountains reach over 10,000 feet high which makes for great hiking, fishing, or just enjoying the scenery.

Chugach State Park covers most of Anchorage’s north side (the Seward Highway) as well as several communities along Turnagain Arm. It has a variety of trails for hikers to enjoy including ski trails during winter months when there’s enough snowfall in Anchorage to provide them with snow on the ground for skiing or sledding down hills!

Eklutna Lake

Eklutna Lake is a glacier-fed lake in the Chugach Mountains. It’s a popular recreation spot for Anchorage residents, as it provides many opportunities to go fishing, hiking, and mountain biking.

Eklutna Lake can be accessed by car or by boat. There is also a community of homes on the shoreline of the lake that offers camping sites, cabins, and RV hookups.
